The Department of Tourism in Bicol promoted a trade fair called the “Festival of Culture and Tourism” as part of the annual celebration of the Pastores that featured 12 micro, small, and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from across the region, showcasing their unique crafts and products.

During the opening at Albay Astrodome on Tuesday, Maria Salee Mora, DOT-5 assistant regional director said the purpose of the festival is to recognize, promote, and celebrate the region’s rich culture.

“We are here today to showcase not only our destinations but also our crafts and flavors, celebrating the heart of Bicol —our people, our traditions, and our enduring spirit of faith,” she said in her speech.

Mora added that the event also serves as a venue for local artists and businesses to present their flavors, arts, and crafts.

“This activity is a celebration that creates an ideal opportunity to highlight our Bicol products,” she added.

Mora encouraged local executives, saying that the event serves as inspiration to strengthen partnerships with communities and work towards further sustainable tourism.

“May this event inspire us to strengthen partnerships, empower communities, and embrace sustainable tourism,” she said.

Dorothy Colle, Albay Provincial Tourism Officer, added that the event is a testament to DOT-5’s commitment to progress.

“This demonstrates that we value making tourism viable in the region,” she said.

Ricky Loterte, Legazpi City Tourism Officer, assured the audience that local executives are dedicated to preserving cultural traditions for future generations.

“Our local executives are committed to ensuring that these traditions flourish for generations to come,” he said.
