ABS-CBN, the country’s leading content provider, bagged a total of eleven awards, including Media Company of the Year for the sixth year in a row, at the Golden Laurel: The Batangas Province Media Awards 2023 held at the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas on Thursday (June 20).
Award-winning host and actress Charo Santos-Concio was given the prestigious Sotero H. Laurel Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the Philippine entertainment industry, while “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” the Philippines’ longest and most celebrated drama anthology program, was presented with the Meritissimus Award for Drama Anthology.
“It has been an honor and privilege for me to serve the Filipino audience since my early days as actress in “Itim,” as the host of the longest running drama anthology, “MMK,” as president and CEO of ABS-CBN, and now as Tindeng in “Batang Quiapo” on weeknights. Your loving support has been a source of strength and motivation for me to keep doing what I have been doing throughout the years,” Charo shared.
ABS-CBN’s noontime program “It’s Showtime” was recognized as the Best Variety Show, while advocacy-driven legal drama anthology “Ipaglaban Mo!” bagged the Best Documentary Show award.
Other winners include Joshua Garcia (Best Drama Actor), Esnyr Ranollo (Most Outstanding Content Creator), and Princess Kathryn “Kulot” Caponpon (Breakthrough Batangueño Social Media Child Personality).
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN News’ flagship program “TV Patrol” won the Best News Program award, while its anchor Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo took home the Female News Anchor of the Year award. The company’s website, news.abs-cbn.com, was also awarded as the Online News Website of the Year.
“Patuloy namin itataguyod ang katotohanan sa abot ng aming makakaya. Sana sundan niyo kami san kami mapanuod digital o TV. Huwag niyo kami iiwan dahil mahal na mahal namin kayo,” Bernadette said.
Organized by the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, the Golden Laurel Awards aims to recognize the institutions, shows, and personalities that made significant contributions in the Philippine entertainment industry.
