Senators agreed to meet with the Senate medical team on Wednesday to discuss health precautions after Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Imee Marcos, and Cynthia Villar tested positive for Covid-19.
Senator Pia Cayetano raised the concern on Tuesday during the session, requesting the Senate medical team to brief them anew on protocols that should be in place to prevent the virus from spreading further.
“I just want to ensure that we are guided by whatever protocol we have in place. Ako (Me) personally, with the permission of my colleagues, I would like na ibalik yung (to put back the) air purifier sa tabi ko kasi (beside me because) I want to visit my Mom. She’s 70-plus years old. I don’t want to be restricted in being with her so I have to protect myself as much as possible,” she said.
“I am asking our medical team to properly guide us so we can welcome as many people as necessary but we can also observe proper protocols,” she added.
She said she understands that people staying inside the Senate building might need to be limited anew, including their staff.
Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri agreed to conduct a short caucus.
Alan Cayetano tested positive for Covid-19 on August 3, followed by Marcos on August 8, and Villar on August 9.
On the same day that he tested positive, Alan Cayetano said he is doing fine and will resume physical work once he is cleared and done with his one-week quarantine. (PNA)
