More thrilling adventures await visitors of the Caniaw Heritage and Forest Park in Barangay Taleb, Bantay, Ilocos Sur following the issuance of a proclamation granting the provincial government authority to further develop the area as an agro-eco tourism destination.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Proclamation 876 on April 24 reserving about 82 hectares of timberland in Barangay Taleb as the site of the Caniaw Heritage and Forest Park and granting its administration to the provincial government.

Michelle Adolfo, officer in charge of the Provincial Tourism Office of Ilocos, said in a recent interview that the forest park, a 10-minute drive from the national highway in Bantay, is being developed and promoted as an eco-tourism destination.

“There are so many developments happening at the park and we hope to lure more visitors here,” she said.

For an entrance fee of PHP75 for adults and PHP50 for children, one can enjoy the amenities of the forest park.

Various activities, such as aerial and tree walks, zip lines, mountain tubing, camping, and scenic bike and hike trails are also available for activity prices ranging from PHP50 to PHP750 per person.

Group packages are also available from PHP275 to PHP375 that include the entrance fee and activities like mountain tubing, aerial walks, hiking, and biking.

According to Adolfo, the park also accepts reservations for events like camping, educational tours, and team building activities.

Proclamation 876 was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. (PNA)
