The Makati City government will officially enforce regulated mobility for unvaccinated individuals.
In an advisory on Thursday, unvaccinated residents shall remain in their residences at all times, except when buying essential goods and transacting with essential services.
This, after the Makati City Council, approved the local ordinance No. 2022-005, which regulates the mobility of unvaccinated residents within communities.
The city ordinance also said unvaccinated persons shall be prohibited in indoor or outdoor dining in restaurants and other food establishments as well as entering for leisure or social trips in malls, hotels, event venues, and other similar facilities.
They are also prohibited to go on domestic travel via public transportation by land, sea, and air.
Unvaccinated are also required to undergo a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) Covid-19 test every two weeks at their own expense, before being admitted to work.
Violators will be penalized with a fine of PHP3,000 for the first offense, PHP4,000 for the second offense, and PHP5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding six months or both in third/succeeding offenses.
In case the violators are minors, their parents or guardians shall be admonished by the Punong Barangay and will be required to attend a parent effectiveness seminar for first offenders.
Parents of minor violators will be ordered to pay a PHP4,000 fine for the second offense and PHP5,000 or a maximum of six months imprisonment, upon the discretion of the court for, the third/succeeding offenses.
The minor offenders, together with parents or guardians, shall be referred to the Makati Social Welfare Department for assessment and provide other necessary intervention and rehabilitation programs. (PNA)
