Nearly two years battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, this Pampanga city has no more active cases following the recovery of its lone patient in Barangay Dau.
The city’s Covid-19 Response Integrated System (CRIS) on Tuesday showed zero infections, which CRIS chief, Dr. Jose Antonio Rivera, said is an affirmation of their effective response and no-letup vaccination drive.
“Though this manifests good news, we should never let our guards down. Patuloy po tayong maging mapagmatyag at maingat upang hindi na tumaas pang muli ang mga kaso ng Covid-19 sa ating siyudad (Let us remain vigilant and take precaution so that the Covid-19 cases in our city will not increase again),” Rivera said in a news release.
Of the total infections, 7,009 recovered (97 percent) and 227 died (3 percent).
The city has already administered 439,825 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, including 11,168 for the pediatric population and 7,697 booster or additional shots.
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo urged his fellow Mabalaqueños to celebrate safely and responsibly this holiday season.
“Naiinitindihan po natin na sabik po tayong lahat na makapagdiwang ng kapaskuhan at bagong taon kasama ang ating mga kapamilya at mga kaibigan. Nais ko pong ipa-intindi na hindi pa po tapos ang pandemya lalo na at nariyan ang panibagong banta ng Omicron variant (We understand that all of us are excited to celebrate Christmas and New Year, together with our families and friends. I would like you to understand that the pandemic is not yet over, especially that there is another threat by Omicron variant),” Garbo said.
He asked residents to continuously comply with minimum health standards to avoid the virus.
“Protektahan po natin ang ating mga sarili at mga kapamilya sa pamamagitan ng pagkilos na parang tayo ay mga carrier ng virus na ito. Sa ganitong paraan lamang po tayo makapagdiriwang ng isang ligtas na (Let us protect ourselves and our families. Let’s act as if we are carriers of the virus. It is only through this that we can celebrate a safe) holiday season,” the mayor said. (PNA)
