The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) held the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys ID) registration for the DSWD’s beneficiaries at the agency’s Central Office in Quezon City on Sept. 19-23.
Through the five-day co-location partnership, 104 clients of DSWD, who received facilitation from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, were accommodated and assisted in registering and processing their application for the national ID.
The DSWD said the PhilSys ID would benefit both the DSWD and its clients as the features of the ID enable faster eligibility checks and digital payments, providing better and multiple access points for beneficiaries to receive social assistance.
DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo initiated the co-location partnership, offering the facilities of the agency for the on-site registration to make the services of the DSWD more accessible to its target sectors in the long run.
This activity was in line with the PSA’s recommendation to the DSWD to identify areas where PSA can co-locate to hold PhilSys Registration for those who have no national ID yet, in conjunction with the previously signed memorandum of agreement for the Pilot Use Case between the two agencies in September 2021.
The DSWD vowed to enhance its social protection delivery and improve the overall experience for its beneficiaries by exploring further interventions, such as the co-location partnership with PSA. (PNA)
