Around 1,700 jobs for skilled and unskilled workers will be up for grabs during the Sept. 11 Marcos Fiesta job fair at the Robinsons Place Ilocos here.
Organized by the Ilocos Norte government through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the job fair aims to provide more opportunities for Ilocanos who wish to find employment in the province.
Provincial manager Anne Marie Lizette Bitancor-Atuan, of the PESO Ilocos Norte, said a number of residents are taking advantage of the government’s “Balik Probinsiya” and are looking for jobs here.
“There are at least 44 private companies and seven government agencies that confirmed their participation in the event,” she said, adding that companies interested to participate in Sunday’s job fair were given until Sept. 8, 2022 to confirm their attendance.
Applicants were, likewise, advised to prepare their credentials for possible hiring on the same day.
Meanwhile, various national government agencies such as the Civil Service Commission, Philippine Statistics Authority, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, Technical Education Skills and Development Authority, and the Philippine National Police will be joining the activity to provide a one-stop-shop to those who may be needing their services.
The Ilocos Norte police announced earlier that they are given a 100 special quota for qualified provincial residents to join the PNP.
The job fair is an annual undertaking of the province in celebration of the 105th birth anniversary of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
This is also in support of the provincial government’s continuing implementation of the “Task Force Trabaho” program to create more jobs . (PNA)
