Fifty persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Bansud District Jail completed a 45-day training in plant crops production, marking a milestone in the jail unit’s rehabilitation initiatives.

A total of 45 male and five female PDLs graduated from the program, which leads to the Agricultural Crops Production National Certificate II, on March 2. They received their Certificates of Training during the jail’s first Modified Therapeutic Program commencement exercises.

The skills training was made possible through a partnership with the Municipal Public Employment Service Office of Bansud and Organiko Agricultural and Technical Training Center, Inc.

District Jail Warden, Chief Inspector Bryan Ian Paul Rañada, thanked partner agencies and service providers for their continued support in equipping PDLs with practical skills.

“Programs like these strengthen our commitment to reform and reintegrate PDL as productive members of society,” Rañada said, underscoring the importance of livelihood and skills development inside jail facilities.

BJMP-Mimaropa spokesperson, Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo, said the successful completion of the training underscores the jail unit’s sustained efforts to promote restorative justice, livelihood readiness, and personal growth among PDLs.

Anglo added that the BJMP continues to expand rehabilitation programs in line with its thrust of transforming jail facilities into centers of reformation, preparing PDLs for eventual reintegration into their communities.

Graduates will each receive a one-time training allowance of PHP3,680 to help support their immediate needs and encourage them to apply the knowledge and skills they acquired. (PNA)
