Following the success of his viral hit “Saan?” Maki returns with another heartbreak anthem showcasing the aftermath of a relationship through his new single “Bakit?

“‘Bakit?’ is a song that expresses our ‘marupok’ selves after ending a confusing relationship,” shared the Tarsier Records’ artist.

“We usually ask ourselves ‘Bakit kaya nagawa niya sa’kin yun? Bakit kaya niya ko iniwanan ng ilang beses?’ But ang pinaka mabigat at confusing na ‘bakit’ ay kahit ginawa niya yung lahat ng mga bagay na hindi mo inaasahan sa kanya, bakit mahal mo pa rin siya?”

Although Maki finds the alternative pop single one of his most heart-wrenching, he hopes that it would offer comfort and ease to listeners.

“This song is actually one of the most heartbreaking songs I’ve ever written. With this, I want people to know that asking questions within yourselves is okay. But, blaming yourself for everything is not. You have to realize na kaya ka marupok is because genuine yung love mo sa kanya and you did your best for them.” he added.

The music video, which dropped last July 5, also showcases Maki’s chemistry with Kapamilya actress Karina Bautista who plays as his love interest. The music video also serves as a sequel to the music video of “Saan?” which was released last April.

As one of the fresh faces of OPM, Maki has released several viral hits such as his R&B rendition of “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” which earned over 900,000 streams on Spotify and his previous single “Saan?” which entered the top 50 of Spotify Philippines’ Viral Songs chart. He also landed on the cover of Pinoy Indie Mix and was featured on .ORG, a regional Spotify playlist which showcases the up-and-coming talents in Asia.
