The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically hit the global economy, yet the global markets are slowly bouncing back.

Global media company Forbes recently released the list of World Billionaires for 2022, wherein 2,668 billionaires worldwide have made this year’s list that contributed USD 12.7 trillion to the world’s economic wealth.

Here are the 20 Filipino billionaires who have made the list of 2022 World’s Billionaires:

This year, former Senate President and real estate tycoon Manuel Villar topped the list of Filipino billionaires included in the list compiled by Forbes. With a net worth of USD 8.3 billion, he is ranked in 263rd spot, jumping from the 352nd ranking last year, with a net worth of USD 7.2 billion.

He owns the property developer Vista Land and Lifescapes, which is widely known for the development of malls, subdivisions, condominiums, convenience stores, and coffee chains.

Ports tycoon Enrique Razon Jr. is the second richest Filipino on the list. With a net worth of USD 6.7 billion, he is standing on the 369th world ranking, jumping from 561st rank last year with a net worth of USD 5 billion.

Following Villar and Razon on the list are Henry Sy. Jr, the co-vice chairman of SM Investments, and Andrew Tan of Alliance Global Group, both ranked 1096th on the list with a net worth of USD 2.8 billion.

They were followed by the other Sy siblings on the list. Harley Sy and Teresita Sy-Coson, both from SM Investments, are ranked at 1292nd spot with a net worth of USD 2.4 billion, and Elizabeth Sy is ranked at 1445th spot with a net worth of USD 2.1 billion.

On the 10th spot on the list of Filipino billionaires, San Miguel Corporation President and CEO Ramon Ang has a world ranking of 1513th with a net worth of USD 2 billion.

JG Summit’s Lance Gokongwei is at the 1818th spot with a net worth of USD 1.6 billion.

Jollibee Corporation’s founder and chairman, Tony Tan Caktiong, is at 2190th world ranking with a net worth of USD 1.3 billion.

Monde Nissin’s Betty Ang, LT Group’s Lucio Tan, and Converge ICT Solutions’ Maria Grace Uy share the overall ranking of 2324th with a net worth of USD 1.2 billion.

Rounding off the list are Nari, Ramesh, Sunder Genomal from Page Industries, Roberto Ongpin from Alphaland, and Dennis Anthony Uy from Converge ICT Solutions, sharing the overall ranking of 2578th and a net worth of USD 1 billion.

Betty Ang, Uys (Maria Grace and Dennis Anthony Uy), and the Genomals (Nari, Ramesh, and Sunder Genomal) are new to the Forbes’ list of world billionaires.

Forbes also noted that there were dramatic drops to the list due to the pandemic and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict this year. There were 2,755 billionaires in the list last 2021.

Tesla’s Elon Musk tops the list of world’s richest people with a net worth of USD 219 billion.
