However, it is her second album \u201cNicole\u201d that many Filipinos loved, mostly because of its raw and relatable lyrics.<\/p>\n<p>Charting at Top 2 in her Spotify Popular list with 177M streams, Niki\u2019s \u201cBackburner\u201d is a cult classic. Here are a few lines from the song to really get you in the feels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, whether we&#8217;re free of will or predestined<br \/>\nClearly, I&#8217;ve not learned my lesson even now\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This highlights the uncertainty of getting into a relationship without a \u201clabel\u201d and the habit of falling into one over and over again. Sometimes it&#8217;s because of the feeling and sometimes it&#8217;s because of the person. Was it really your choice or were you meant to chase small bits of gratification all your life?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I know in a week or so<br \/>\nYou&#8217;ll fade away again\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This line implies that even if you already know that this relationship was set up on a balance beam, you keep coming back for more\u2014or rather, they keep coming back and you still accept them in your life\u2026like the ones in a situationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey, are you still there? Good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Assurance is something we all strive to receive. However, in this case, assurance and confirmation are rooted in the other person\u2019s ego. It\u2019s a classic \u201cbreadcrumbing\u201d tactic in which someone gives another person just enough affection, or small gestures of interest, to keep them hopeful and somewhat committed, without any intention of forming a real relationship with them, leaving the recipient disoriented of the relationship\u2019s status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Cause maybe you&#8217;ll finally choose me after you&#8217;ve had more time\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sure, there are times when someone can be confused about their feelings towards another, especially during the beginning of the \u201cgetting to know each other\u201d phase; however, purposely delaying a \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno\u201d answer is downright cruel because you can have and enjoy access to someone without a clear label.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I know that it&#8217;s sad<br \/>\nThat I settled for the backburner\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever heard of the phrase, \u201cWe accept the love we think we deserve\u201d?
