I haven\u2019t seen that in a Super Hero movie before, so I think the audience is really gonna relate to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unlike in most Super Hero movies where the protagonist hides their identity from family to keep them safe, in \u201cBlue Beetle,\u201d Jaime discovers his superpowers right in front of his family, making them all privy to his secret.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis family, really, for better or for worse, is the driving force of everything that Jaime does,\u201d says Maridue\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou see that, and it\u2019s really just due in part to how much he cares about them, and that is an experience that I relate to and that I can connect with so easily.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy family is also so integral in everything that I do, and sometimes it feels like we\u2019re on top of each other all the time, but those are the best types of relationships. I think they really provided a support system for Jaime to excel in everything that he wanted to do, and maybe now that he has the Scarab the plans are a little bit different, but they\u2019re ride-or-dies, they see him for who is he and they\u2019re gonna support him, and that really is such an important part of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In \u201cBlue Beetle,\u201d recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Maridue\u00f1a) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it.<\/p>\n<p>As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.<\/p>\n<p>When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlue Beetle\u201d opens exclusively in cinemas August 16.<\/p>\n<p>**The interview with Xolo Maridue\u00f1a was done before the strike.**<\/p>\n<h3>About \u201cBlue Beetle\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>From Warner Bros. The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, stars Xolo Maridue\u00f1a in the title role as well as his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.<\/p>\n<p>Starring alongside Maridue\u00f1a (\u201cCobra Kai\u201d) are Adriana Barraza (\u201cRambo: Last Blood,\u201d \u201cThor\u201d), Dam\u00edan Alc\u00e1zar (\u201cNarcos,\u201d \u201cNarcos: Mexico\u201d), Elpidia Carrillo (\u201cMayans M.C.,\u201d the \u201cPredator\u201d films), Bruna Marquezine (\u201cMaldivas,\u201d \u201cGod Save the King\u201d), Raoul Max Trujillo (the \u201cSicario\u201d films, \u201cMayans M.C.\u201d), with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (\u201cMonarch,\u201d \u201cDead Man Walking\u201d), and George Lopez (the \u201cRio and \u201cSmurf\u201d franchises). The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (\u201cAmerican Horror Stories,\u201d \u201cHocus Pocus 2\u201d) and Harvey Guill\u00e9n (\u201cWhat We Do in the Shadows\u201d). Soto (\u201cCharm City Kings,\u201d \u201cThe Farm\u201d) directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (\u201cMiss Bala\u201d), based on characters from DC. John Rickard and Zev Foreman are producing, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>A Warner Bros.
