Regreening the environment is a continuing process not only for today\u2019s generation but also for the next, said an official of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Isabela.<\/p>\n
At the celebration of the Arbor Day at Fuyot Springs National Park in Barangay Santa Victoria here on Sunday, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Orly Cariazo of DENR-Isabela said tree planting-cum-hiking-and-biking should be emulated by future leaders, workers and youth.<\/p>\n
Arbor Day is a secular day of observance in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis tree planting will be for the future generation. We hope that the young ones continue in nurturing the forests,\u201d Cariazo said.<\/p>\n
Almost 1,000 volunteers — mostly environment workers, local government representatives, youth members, and bikers — joined the regreening program through Arbor Day.<\/p>\n
The volunteers planted about 1,000 non-fruit bearing tree seedlings like narra, mahogany, acacia, ipil, gmelina, and other tree species.<\/p>\n
